  11. StampBase for Windows is a stamp collection inventory system for the hobbyist.
  12.  
  13. StampBase for Windows is a shareware software product.  STAMPB.EXE is a
  14. self-extracting file containing the compressed files required to use StampBase
  15. for Windows.  STAMPB.EXE was created using the software program LHA (Copyright
  16. 1990-1991 by Haruyasu Yoshizaki).

  18. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:  IBM PC or compatible 80286, 386 or 486 with 2 MB RAM, a
  19. hard drive and Microsoft Windows 3.0 or higher.  Program supports mouse and
  20. keyboard.

  22.                              DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  23.  
  24. StampBase takes advantage of the Windows' Graphical User Interface (GUI) and
  25. its memory management capabilities.  StampBase is a Windows application.  The
  26. program will not work outside the Windows environment.
  27.  
  28. StampBase provides intuitive data entry, edit, query and browse features.  The
  29. following information can be entered for each stamp:  country, catalog number,
  30.  
  31. category (type), issue year, description, grade, purchase date, cost, market
  32. value and  comments.  Information is sorted and indexed on most fields. 
  33. Reports display records and collection statistics on screen on in printed hard
  34. copy.  Create one or more database files containing an unlimited number of
  35. stamp records.

  37. The file format was changed in this new version.  This means Version 1.5
  38. cannot properly read Version 1.0 files.  The file format change was due to
  39. program enhancements requested by registered users.  We created an import
  40. utility for you to convert your 1.0 files to the 1.5 format.  The import
  41. utility is available to registered users.

  43. This is NOT free software.  This is NOT public domain software.  StampBase for
  44. Windows is a shareware software product.  You are expected to pay a $24.95
  45. registration fee plus shipping and to the author if you find it useful. 
  46. Registered users receive the latest version of the program, a printed User's
  47. Guide, free technical support and notification of program updates and
  48. upgrades.  A registration form is included in the program.

  69.                        INSTALLATION AND UNPACKING PROGRAM

  71. Installing StampBase - Files not Compressed
  72.  
  73. Copy the StampBase files to your hard drive before attempting to run the
  74. program.  Windows' File Manager will help you create a directory and copy the
  75. program files from the disk to the new directory on the hard drive.  File
  76. Manager is usually in the first position in the Main Group window of Program
  77. Manager.  If you use a Windows desktop manager such as Norton DesktopTM,
  78. follow the desktop manager's instructions for creating a directory and copying
  79. files.

  81. Mouse       *    Double-click the File Manager program icon.
  82.  
  83. Keyboard    *    Press the left or right arrow key to move the highlight to
  84.                  the File Manager program icon and press ENTER.

  86. Create a New Directory:
  87.  
  88. Mouse       1.   Point to File on the menu bar and click.
  89.  
  90.             2.   Point to the Create Directory menu item and click.  The
  91.                  Create Directory dialog box will appear.
  92.  
  93.             3.   Type the new directory name including the drive, if
  94.                  different then the current one.   Example:  c:\STAMPWIN
  95.  
  96.             4.   Point to the OK button and click to create a directory.

  98. Keyboard    1.   Press ALT,  F to open the File menu.

  100.             2.   Press E to select Create Directory.  The Create Directory
  101.                  dialog box will appear.

  103.             3.   Type the new directory name including the drive, if
  104.                  different then the current one.   Example:  c:\STAMPWIN
  105.  
  106.             4.   Press ENTER to create a directory.

  109. Copy StampBase Files to New Directory:

  111. Make sure the source and destination disk drive icons are visible.
  112.  
  113. Mouse       1.   Point to the disk drive icon (A or B) containing the
  114.                  StampBase program files and click.
  115.  
  116.             2.   Highlight the StampBase files in the list on the right side
  117.                  of screen and click.
  118.  
  119.             3.   Point to File on the menu bar and click.
  120.  
  121.             4.   Point to the Copy menu item and click.  The Copy dialog box
  122.                  will appear.

  124.             5.   Type the destination disk drive and directory.  Example:  
  125.                  C:\STAMPWIN
  126.  
  127.             6.   Point to the OK button and click.

  129. Keyboard    1.   Press CTRL and letter of disk drive containing the StampBase
  130.                  files.

  132.             2.   Press TAB to move cursor to the file list.

  134.             3.   Press the Down direction key to highlight the StampBase
  135.                  files.

  137.             4.   Press F8.  The Copy dialog box will appear.

  139.             5.   Type the destination disk drive and directory.  Example: 
  140.                  C:\stampwin

  142.             6.   Press ENTER to begin copying files.

  145. Installing StampBase - Files Compressed
  146.  
  147. Copy STAMPB.EXE to your hard drive before attempting to unpack the program.

  150. file from the disk to the new directory on the hard drive.  File Manager is
  151. usually in the first position in the Main Group window of Program Manager.  If

  166.             3.   Point to STAMPB.EXE and double-click.  The program will exit
  167.                  Windows to unpack the files in DOS.  The StampBase files
  168.                  will now be unpacked in the new directory.  The program will
  169.                  return to File Manager when unpacking is done.

  171. Keyboard    1.   Press TAB to move cursor to a drive icon.  Use the direction
  172.                  key(s) to highlight the drive containing STAMPB.EXE and
  173.                  press ENTER.

  175.             2.   Press TAB to move cursor to directory list.  Use the
  176.                  direction key(s) to highlight the directory containing
  177.                  STAMPB.EXE and press ENTER.

  179.             3.   Press TAB to move cursor to the file list.  Use the
  180.                  direction key(s) to highlight STAMPB.EXE and press ENTER. 
  181.                  The program will exit Windows to  unpack the files in DOS. 
  182.                  StampBase will now be unpacked in the new directory.  The
  183.                  program will return to File Manager when unpacking is done.

  186. Setup an Application Group
  187.  
  188. Creating an application group for StampBase makes the program easier to run. 
  189. See your Windows user guide for information on application groups.
  190.  
  191. Mouse       1.   Point to SETUP.EXE located in the STAMPWIN directory and
  192.                  double-click.  The StampBase Setup window will appear.  The
  193.                  default path c:\stampwin\stampwin.exe" will appear in the 
  194.                  window.

  196.             2.   Point to the Setup button and click if the default path is
  197.                  correct.  Setup will begin creating an application group.
  198.  
  199.                  Point to the default path text box and click if the path is
  200.                  not correct.  Point to the Setup button and click after
  201.                  changing the path.
  202.  
  203.                  A Setup dialog box will appear when setup is done.
  204.  
  205.             3.   Point to the OK button and click.  The dialog box will
  206.                  disappear.

  208.             4.   Point to the Exit button and click.  The setup window will
  209.                  disappear.  See instructions for  exiting File Manager.

  211.                  Repeat the setup procedure with correct path if the
  212.                  StampBase icon is missing from the group window.

  214. Keyboard    1.   Press the direction arrow key(s) to highlight SETUP.EXE
  215.                  located in the STAMPWIN directory and press ENTER.  The
  216.                  StampBase Setup window will appear.  The default path 
  217.                  "c:\stampwin\stampwin.exe" will appear in the window.

  219.             2.   Press ENTER if the default path is correct.  Setup will
  220.                  begin creating an application group.
  221.  
  222.                  Press TAB to move the cursor to the default path text box if
  223.                  the default is incorrect.  Press TAB to move to the Setup
  224.                  button and press ENTER after changing the default path.

  226.                  A Setup dialog box will appear when setup is done.

  228.             3.   Press ENTER.  The dialog box will disappear.
  229.  
  230.             4.   Press TAB to highlight the Exit button and press ENTER.  See
  231.                  instruction for exiting File Manager.

  233. StampBase will now appear in the StampBase group window with its own program
  234. icon.
